Ashley Batten ASHLEY BATTEN recently earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. She is pursuing work in musical theatre, voiceover, television and film.

Ashley's favorite credits include Cosette in Music Theatre of Wichita's premiere of Les Misérables and ensemble in MTW's My Fair Lady, Big River, and All Shook Up. Other credits include Laurey in Oklahoma, Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime, Sarah in Guys & Dolls, and Sally in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Over the years, Ashley has had the privilege of performing on many famous stages, including the Kennedy Center, Signature Theatre, Warner Theatre, Baltimore's Meyerhoff, Baltimore's Hippodrome, and Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall.

In 2005, Ashley was the only high school female to win the National Foundation for the Arts' youngARTS Award for classical voice. She also won a merit award for her musical theatre entry. Just months after attending youngARTS week, Ashley graduated from the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts, which boasts alums such as Christian Siriano, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tupac Shakur.

Since her graduation from Carnegie Mellon University, Ashley has explored a variety of performance venues, ranging from musical theatre and opera to television and film. In May 2009, Ashley and a few Carnegie Mellon colleagues travelled to New York City for performances of Bus Stop Opera, in which she had a blast playing the off-kilter cat lady, Phyllis. Following her NYC tour, Ashley shot the TV pilot for a dramedy, Hard to Be Me. In July 2009, she filmed the Sirens Media/MSNBC documentary about Patty Hearst, in which she portrayed Angela Atwood. The documentary is set to air on MSNBC in January. From July through August 2009, Ashley filmed an Opening Act Productions independent film, The FellowsHip. She had the honor of performing alongside Broadway star Matt Bogart at the Americans for the Arts' BCA Ten in NYC in November. Ashley returned to her musical theatre roots from September through November, when she appeared in a new musical, KT for Prez!, with DC's Charter Theatre New Plays for Young Audiences.
